Rumors and fake leaks have been spread, but as of now, none have come to fruition. The game did have a great playable demo at the E3 gaming convention in 2019, to give at least some players a taste of the game, but there really has not been much news since.Īs a result, die-hard fans of the game have analyzed any potential date that information could have been revealed, including the series' recent 5th anniversary. Well, Hollow Knight: Silksong was revealed over three years ago, and the game is still a mystery. Any follow up to the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight clearly has some big shoes to fill, but this initial trailer for Silksong assures fans that the game will do just that. The gameplay also is much faster and acrobatic now, all fitting of Hollow Knight: Silksong's protagonist Hornet. This trailer boasts many new enemies, bosses, varied locations with vibrant visuals, new towns - it is clear that the world of Silksong is much larger in scope than the original game. Hollow Knight: Silksong was first revealed on Valentine's Day of 2019, with a surprise announcement trailer. One final DLC was planned, in which players can replay the game as the fan favorite character, Hornet, but this idea fully transitioned into Hollow Knight: Silksong. These include new areas to explore, filled with platforming challenges, on top of some of the hardest boss fights and gauntlets in the game. Due to the success of the base game, Hollow Knight has multiple free DLC expansions. The combat is also difficult, which, in conjunction with losing all obtained currency upon death, frequently draws comparisons to games like Dark Souls.Īll of these factors resulted in Hollow Knight being a smash hit - it is hard to believe that its developer, Team Cherry, consists of only three people. On top of this, Hollow Knight has a deep combat system in which players can use melee and magic, and even customize their loadouts by equipping certain charms. Its world is dense and filled with secrets to uncover, and the game's excellent platforming tools make backtracking fun, as opposed to a chore. Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently in development for PC and Switch.Hollow Knight is a metroidvania set in a dark, gloomy underground, with an adorable art style. Who knows, the next update could be at any time, and it’s bound to get the already fired-up fanbase even more ready to take on the role of Hornet. Hitting this benchmark is not indicative of any major worries, of course, but the sheer hype around Hollow Knight: Silksong at this marker indicates that many are willing to wait. The best thing to do now is to wait on an update from Team Cherry. It won’t be 2021 at this point without any major surprises, but 2022 is at least possible (if not that early). Beyond the questionability of the leak containing this information accurately (as some are said to be speculative, while others were clearly true, like God of War’s PC Port), that window may not come with any bit of delays or COVID-19 taken into account. According to it, it is set to release in February 2022. The only recent bit of news about Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release date, which is likely the big focus of many fans, came from a GeForce Now leak. This applies to big, AAA developers and publishers, and that probably goes double for Team Cherry. Such delays in information is inevitable with that in mind, and that’s not to mention that COVID-19 has had a big impact on the gaming industry. Of course, early reveals followed by long periods of silence aren’t really new in this industry.įor Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s worth mentioning that Team Cherry is the definition of Indie, developing and publishing the title with a team of 3 people. Metroid Prime 4, at the same time, is over 800 days without a single mention by Nintendo. At one point, it had hit 700 days and certainly ballooned beyond that. Some believe Starfield teased the location for The Elder Scrolls 6, but even that is more speculative than well-reasoned.Īnother game that hit notable benchmarks like these is Elden Ring, which went quite a while with no news. That title belongs to The Elder Scrolls 6, which has received absolutely nothing substantial in the time since. Truth is, it’s not the worst case of a game hitting 1000 days with little news.
